Piers Morgan on Orlando horror: "We're all in this together"
Piers Morgan appeared on UK talk show This Morning today to talk about the recent massacre of LGBT people in Orlando this weekend.
He mainly took aim at the NRA and Donald Trump and spoke out against the gun control laws in the US. He did however stray off the subject a bit when he condemned ISIS but emphasized that "we're all in this together" and that people should come out in their droves to London Pride and march for peace.
Quote:
"The reason I think it may be a tipping point, in a certain degree, is that I think many people who are pro-gun in America are more concerned about radicalized Islamic terror in their country - and this is a time when the two come together."
Quote:
"What about just having a new law which says if you are interviewed by the FBI on suspicion with allegiance to ISIS or a fundamentalist or an extremist group, that it flags up when you try and buy a damn gun?"
Quote:
"We're all targets. The gay community got targeted on this occasion. But they will go after anybody (ISIS) that doesn't fit their sick, twisted ideology. My advice to anyone about the London Pride - the gay march in London - is everybody come out and support them whether you're gay, straight, black, white, Islamic... If you are a peace-loving person that thinks you do not want your life to be dictated to by these barbaric, medieval monsters then get out and march and support everybody because we're all in this together."
He also wrote a column in The Daily Mail about the incident.
Quote:
“We’ve had a no-fly list for suspected terrorists for years, so why not a no-buy list? It’s time for Trump and the NRA to show whose side they’re on,”
Quote:
The Republican politicians leaping up and down with fury at Islamic terror today are the same Republicans who’ve systematically blocked every attempt by Obama to introduce any new gun laws which might have stopped Omar Mateen arming himself to the teeth and committing his sickening outrage.
They do so because if they don’t, the NRA will punish them and possibly get them kicked them out of office. Such is the repulsive power that the country’s most repellent lobby group wields in Washington.
So we have a situation where this latest mass murderer was inspired by ISIS, freed by the FBI and enabled by the NRA.
He makes some interesting points and for once he's not being an ass.
