I'll start by sharing that I've been obsessing over the victims because I want to make sure that all of the people wounded survive.. Its been a long day </3

Being gay, and latino this really hit close to home for me.

All of it is sad. Christina's death and the way that happened similar to the mass shooting. It's just like what is happening right now? Then another loser tried to bomb the LA pride parade. All it means is LGBT folks are getting a bigger voice and because of it there will opposition from the people who don't want that, just like Obama's presidency has sparked so much repressed racism because the majority is afraid that the minority will take over. It was said best in the movie The Color Purple, "Folks don't like nobody being too proud or too free."

It's just too much in one weekend. Something needs to be done. And not 20 years from now. Not 10. Not 5. Not 1. Not even later this year. We need to do something NOW.

I think the main thing Orlando's shooting proved was that equality is not fully here yet. I know we had the Kim David BS and the bathrooms BS, but for a while, it looked like being gay wasn't so bad anymore. Guess it took this event to shock us back in our place to realize we are still second class citizens.

While that would be ideal, nothing is being done overnight. In 1 year or even 5. Sadly.

Today wasn't a good day.

I'm just scared cause the club was 12 minutes away from my house, my sister lost one of her friends and i'm guessing two shooters are still on the run so i'm terrified. I'm just tired of all these murders happening and we need gun laws stat.

It was just sad ..

I'm not saying we need to massively overhaul the way we deal with ISIS, mental healthcare, and guns overnight. We should start taking steps toward fixing these issues though.

It really made me sad because like another member claimed, this event further reminds us that although we are close to equality, we are still a marginalized group in America. We are still a group that people feel such vitriol and anger towards to the point that we are murdered.

This was a bitter reminder that we still have a lot of progress to go in this country concerning equality, gun laws, and counter-terrorism.

It makes me so sad
the LGBT community had made leaps and bounds for equality over the last few years, and it saddens me to see so many people living in fear because of who they are now, not that it ever changed but, this was a cold reminder of the hate some people have in there hearts

One of my best friends is Muslim, and he was heart broken about what happened, especially during Ramadan

Unconfirmed. People can imagine things when they're in a panic. During San Bernardino there were originally three gunmen (specifically men) reported. It ended up being a male and a female.

I'm hoping it's not true, i just feel so bad for the victims and their families

Stay safe, make sure you're able to defend yourself (and not necessarily with a gun)

Stay safe. If you don't feel comfortable leaving the house, don't.

stay safe. and if bullies ask if you're Arab, just say you're Mexican. I'm not saying not to be proud of your heritage, but safety first!

maybe now you realize how POC feel or will you still brand them as SJW when they speak out about racial inequality? OT: just goes to show we have a lot of work to do in this country when it comes to LGBT issues
