1989
Lemonade has some pretty bad lyrics such as:
Quote:
Sorry, I ain't sorry
Sorry, I ain't sorry
I ain't sorry
***** nah
Sorry, I ain't sorry
Sorry, I ain't sorry
I ain't sorry
He trying to roll me up (I ain't sorry)
I ain't picking up (I ain't sorry)
Headed to the club (I ain't sorry)
I ain't thinking 'bout you (I ain't sorry)
|
or
Quote:
Sometimes I go off (I go off), I go hard (I go hard)
Get what's mine (take what's mine), I'm a star (I'm a star)
Cause I slay (slay), I slay (hey), I slay (okay), I slay (okay)
All day (okay), I slay (okay), I slay (okay), I slay (okay)
We gon' slay (slay), gon' slay (okay), we slay (okay), I slay (okay)
I slay (okay), okay (okay), I slay (okay), okay, okay, okay, okay
Okay, okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, cause I slay
Okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, cause I slay
Prove to me you got some coordination, cause I slay
Slay trick, or you get eliminated

OT: Lemonade is the best album I ever heard...1989 isn't good.

Bandaids don't fix bullet holes IS a good lyric

How exactly? It's not clever, it's like me saying "Sunshine makes it light outside" well duh...?

Blank Space is universally acclaimed lyric > Lemonade with its unclear direct
Sorry, but BS is the most genius lyric song this decade
And if Lemonade wins this poll in the end, please tell those 64 writers, they just won ATRL poll for one word they change in the album

LEMONADE
One reason is because of Beyonce is able to make these subtle lyrical references back to songs like Partition and Drunk in Love to create a juxtaposition between their relationship then and now.

What does that even mean?
Most of heartbroken teenagers and some adults can actually relate to Taylor

It's about person's insincere "sorry" being the band-aid to what actually is a bullet hole. And that bullet hole was caused by actions of this person.
But if yall wanna pretend you don't understand metaphors what are we talking about here.

Little swifites are mad.
I'd say that Lemonade is miles better since there's no awful lyrics like Shake it Off or Bad Blood.

They are both flawless and serve to different purposes so idk.

The depths of Pray You Catch Me, Love Drought and Forward >
The clever word play of Hold Up >
The abrasiveness and swagger of Don't Hurt Yourself >
The quotability of Sorry >
The empowerment of Freedom and Formation >
The emotionality and warmth of All Night >
The songs and lyrics on Lemonade take me to emotional landscapes Taylor could never.
