"According to worldwide Capcom investor relations data, the original Super NES Street Fighter 2 sold 6.3 million copies, the Super NES Street Fighter 2 Turbo sold 4.1 million and the Genesis Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition sold 1.65 million. The original Super Nintendo port remains Capcom's second best selling game to date."
This only includes the sales to 3 versions of the game, 1 game on 1 console each, and doesn't include several other ports or the Arcade version. Why was it such a monster hit?
Already at 2M copies sold while being an exclusive, and with a huge update coming later this month + 4 new characters in the following months, and being the most successful game ever @ EVO, i'd say it's doing pretty damn great
Easy to pick up and play, but being good at it is another matter tbqh. I was at this bar night in Shoreditch (gentrified east London) recently, SF2 arcade machines everywhere. So edgi and relevant.
