He didn't say that. In fact he praised Adele's voice, calling it "great voice". He criticised current pop music scene, studio versions are way too perfect, some singers can't showcase same vocals in their live performances.
He was just using a bad example, Adele's voice is probably one of the least 'engineered' out of today's singers. It's probably processed a bit, but there's no doubt that Adele is talented. No voice can be engineered into being that genuine and powerful unless it was already like that
