I have heard some say that Religion will be debunked if we ever found any life whether it's bacterial, plant or extraterrestrial, some say Religion organizations will argue and debate that their God made that life, some say Religious people will ignore it... What do you think will happen if we ever found life outside of Earth? Plant, Bacteria or Extraterrestrial

I'm confident by the time we do find life outside Earth people won't believe in fairytales anymore

People will deny it and blame it on the media photoshop or something silly and if they ever seen it in person they'll be like it's a test from god... e.t.c

I don't think aliens are enough for religion to stop existing. People are resistant when it comes to things challenging ideologies and beliefs that are ingrained in them.

Ooh yea like the Moon Landing which I have noticed that many religious people are against NASA and space exploration saying it's fake and stuff or come up with Religious Conspiracy theories

Well I don't believe other planets/space in general are ever cited in any holy scriptures (correct me if Im wrong please) and many still believe, so I don't think much would change.

In that sense it wouldn't further prove or disprove anything. Things would stay the same.

Besides the bible mentioning that the Earth is flat and that all the Planets and Sun relvovle around the Earth I have never heard of any other space mentions.. And even when it was proven that the Earth is round and than we revolve around the sun there was "no comment" and Religion now usually says we misinterpreted what the Bible meant

Religion will just evolve and change its message with the times. The thing about religion is that it has no basis in reality (science), so it's pretty much just a story passed on that can be changed on a whims notice to match the present day.

One of my Christian friends told me, God created the whole universe, which includes all the extraterrestrial life.

They'll just ignore it. Most religious people don't know as much about their faith as they are pretending to anyway...

Welp. Whatever happens, something will be filed under the "parts of the bible we ignore while we focus 100% on the parts that benefit us and our internal values" that many people are familiar with. Im still religious to an extent though, its just a very slippery slope.

It will not change a damn thing. They believe that God created the universe and all the creature in it. A proof of life outside of the earth could even strengthen some people's belief.

It would be such a slap in the face if a life form told your friend your God didn't create me

Religious people will simply use the findings as "evidence" of God's power.

Nothing would happen.
