PRISM and 25 stuck to the tried and true formula of their artists and both were rehashes of their previous albums. Also, Little Mix's Get Weird was incredibly safe because it tried to piggyback off of the 80's trend Taylor started but what those girls failed to realize is that quality 80's influenced music in 2015 ≠ cheesy Cyndi Lauper demos and one note ballads.

The Fame was not safe when it was released at all. Gaga had to beg for radio to play Just Dance, there was no dance music smashing. Just because it sounds like something mainstream doesn't mean it was at the time.

LG and BEP were practically the pioneers of the Dance music movement.

So don't be so ignorant. you can say that you don't like it, that is over the top but saying that it was safe to put this pure pop album for an artist that is still new is just being jelaous and not looking the wider picture

California Gurls was literally a copy of Tik Tok which had smashed months before. The songs were made to be hits.

I don't get why people are saying 25. Did you expect her to make dance pop or something?

That's just the kind of music she does, and it always has been. 21 smashed out of nowhere, unexpectedly, it didn't mean she needed to change her sound.

Same with people saying "all Taylor albums". Speak Now was a risk considering she decided to not use any cowriters and she wrote it all herself, and included some songs like "Mean" which were a lot more folky/country than what she had done before. Then to crossover to Pop, risking alienating her fanbase.

TD is DANCE POP just like all the other songs you mentioned
