Grass thrives pretty much everywhere, however the leaves (especially in dense rainforests) are having their flop era because of trees being cut down. I'm pretty sure grass has sold millions of square miles, something leaves have yet to achieve.
Leaves are more versatile and are constantly evolving (i.e. have the ability to change colours depending on the season). Grass is a one trick pony and shows no artistic growth
