Every time I come to ATRL I'm actually shocked at how the word is still treated as a full stop, code-red slur on the level of "the n-word". Not just by the censors, but by the actual users here. Use it even in jest and you get at least 5 people telling you how SERIOUSLY offended they are. It's like the twilight zone here because nobody is like that about it in real life.

What is it about ATRL gays that makes them so culturally retrograde in all ways? Are they truly still living in the TRL era?

I get offended when someone uses it with a despective tone, as an insult. If it's another gay or some friend of mine who is just messing around I really don't care.

I mean I don't get heated over the word but the self hate/hypocrisy in the gay community makes me doubt the "reclaiming" of the word. Like I won't challenge people and I can laugh Willam or someone uses it but I'll still judge you for it

If a straight is saying it to me then I will be offended, but if my fellow gays say it to me in a playful manner I won't be offended because they know the struggle. I personally do not use the word at all though.
