In late May and early June 2016 flooding began after several days of heavy rain in Europe, mostly Germany and France, but also Austria, Belgium, Romania, and Moldova

The Seine River level peaked Saturday in Paris, and the national flood service said it would remain about 4 meters (more than 13 feet) above normal Sunday. Authorities warn it will take up to 10 days for the river to return to normal.

The flood risks along the Seine are moving downstream after forcing thousands out of their homes and houseboats earlier this week. West of Paris, it overflowed around the medieval city of Rouen overnight, but the local administration said Sunday the damage was “localized and limited” and severe flood warnings for the area were lifted.

German authorities on Sunday pulled the plug on the Rock am Ring music festival west of Frankfurt after a new storm warning was issued. Late Friday, a lightning storm sent 70 people from the festival to the hospita

something really similar actually just happened in the US, just a little while ago in texas. i guess it really is /global/ warming...that doesn't make me feel good :|

We have a flood every 6-7 years here in southern Germany and they NEVER did anything about It. Like, dig something to derive the water or something. It's not like It's a surprise

Sis you can't just dig, do you realize how HUGE the hole would need to be to derive that volume of water ?

It's been a true chore to wake up everyday I can't even remember the last I've seen the sun

Thankfully there's no real damage in the good parts of Paris.
