"The Sound Of Silence" has been in the Top 100 on ITunes all year and in the Top 50 for over three months, but so far it has only reached #49 on Top 40 and 44 on HAC. That might change after the Dancing With The Stars finale, but I won't get my hopes up too much.

I'm sure this song will follow up "Wasted Time." Yes, Country radio will play it because it is sung by two Country superstars, and almost nothing is "too Pop" for the format right now. And yes AC and HAC will play it because BOTH artists have had hits at those formats before. Carrie Underwood has several times, and Keith Urban had an Adult Crossover smash with "You'll Think Of Me" in 2004-5.

At least Carrie might still get a number one this era. It is so sad and tragic

I'm sure country will play it just off the names alone and it'll probably go top 10. I don't know if listeners will complain it's too pop though. But I doubt HAC (and probably AC too) will really play it much. Like you said, Keith's last hit there was 11 years ago and I don't think Carrie has reached the top 20 there since Before He Cheats 9 years ago even when she has had several promoted hits.

This might go top 20 in AUS. His own singles this era haven't scrapped top 75 there
