I support this. It seems insignificant but things mount up and images stick with ppl, especially dumb ones who unfortunately make up a lot of the world.

I read an article somewhere about the history of women on movie posters and how often the woman's face isn't featured, just parts of her body- usually the backside. And most of the time the dude is there in plain view

The image of "the woman" stripped of her agency (& sometimes even identity) being used to promote products that gross millions of $$$ has been a marketing tool for yeaaaaars and it's wack as ****

It isn't the image itself it's how it's being used

I don't think it has to do with anything historical or oppressive and more how triggering and upsetting the image without context could be to people who've been victims to violence, especially gendered violence and things like domestic abuse, plastered on a huge billboard....

It's a ****ing movie. Literally who is going to go "I feel uncomfortable by a blue woman being choked up by that blue man in that film about mutant powers and world destruction!!"

I'm sure in context of the movie it was ok but the poster looked a bit much. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it was driving past a giant poster of a man choking a woman everyday

That poster was tragic either way. Has there ever been a poster to an action movie with a guy being held in JLaws position? By male or female, doesn't matter.
