This. And I'm usually the first to jump on the "equality" train in these cases, but the outrage over is just completely idiotic.
Yall want female representation in your action films but then you cry when she has to fight against a man? They're mutants with super powers. Of COURSE she's going to get her ass beat, and likewise she's also going to kick some ass. That's how fantasy/action films work. Why is it always damned if you do, damned if you don't with these things? Choose a side and stick with it.

This is the first time I'm willing to say that it was honest mistake on their part. I really don't think their intent was to display an image depicting violence against women to help promote their film, but rather one of the most interesting characters facing adversity/death in a really in your face way. I'm usually the one of to be like "Misogyny!" but this isn't one of those times imo. BUT I am glad the poster was removed. I think it was a bad choice regardless of the pushback.

No-one is saying they can't fight in the movie. People paying for the movie, won't question an action sequence that shows these superpowered mutants fighting, but to promote the movie showing one of the biggest female actors in the world - being choked, is reckless.
People are upset that this particular IMAGE is being used to promote a movie. You have to step back, pretend you know nothing of this franchise and see the image for what it is. Take away the logo, the title, the names, and it's just a man, choking a woman.

This makes no sense. Literally every human being on earth knows that X-Men is a superhero comic book franchise. You'd have to have been living under a rock for the last couple decades to not know this (especially if you're living anywhere where any of these promo images were being displayed). This is just another case of people getting riled up over something simply because they CAN, and not because it makes any sense.
If the characters looked even the slightest bit real in their design and costumes then I might even be able to understand the outrage a bit more, but that's not the case. The characters literally LOOK like fantasy characters in a fantasy world. Even if you knew nothing of this franchise (which again, is highly unlikely considering it's one of the most popular comic book franchises in the world and has been promoted heavily over the past few months), it wouldn't make any sense to draw the comparison to some rom-com about a husband and wife in a domestic dispute.
As much as I hate using the term "sjws", I have to admit that this is hands-down a simple case of SJWs making another big fuss over absolutely nothing. If anyone was "triggered" by this image, then that's on them and they honestly have no business watching any film that has even the slightest bit of action in it.

Agreed.
As an "SJW" myself I thought this whole outrage was completely unnecessary. And it's just going to worsen the movement because people will continue generalizing SJW's as an overly sensitive and vocal group.

I don't know, as much as violence against women is a serious problem, it's a movie about superhumans and she's a villian or whatever and removing this kind of just says that even fictional women with superpowers are "delicate" and need to be handled with care.
But on the other end, I suppose knowing how dumb people are some might take it as influence that it's acceptable to abuse women, so I really don't know.

I'm a proud pacifist, I think violence is wrong and we need to be more peaceful instead. Is that concept really that hard for you to get? I'm tired of people condoning violence, because the worst thing you could ever do is hurt another person. There's literally no reason to be violent, and nothing good comes out out it, if the world was peaceful it would be a much better place, and everyone would be much nicer. Portraying violence in popular media is sadly only going to encourage that kind of evil behavior and make it much worse, and society needs to realize that too so it can stop. We need more peace in the world, not violence.

Then if she's going against a badass like Apocalypse she's gonna get her ass handed to her a bit I hate that the 1% are ruining liberalism for the rest of us and enabling the term 'SJW' to thrive

Like, use your heads. Stop reading through the ****ing MANUAL and use your minds.
