I kind of agree with her. It's a messy poster with no context.
Like, if there was a movie poster of a woman in front of a mirror covering her bruises with makeup, I'm sure most of you would agree that it could evoke ideas of domestic violence. But then it could turn out to be that the movie is about a female MMA fighter and have nothing to do with domestic violence...
So I don't understand how people can say that it's a reach to say that this picture of a clearly male mutant choking a clearly female mutant could trigger ideas of domestic violence FOR SOME PEOPLE (namely, people with little to no knowledge of the X-Men franchise). Just because you get it, it doesn't mean everyone else will.
Thus, it also seems weird to me that no one at Fox batted an eyelash when this promo billboard was proposed... I mean, is it gonna incite people to beat up females? Probably not (hopefully). But does it seem like a big oversight on their part? Yeah.
