Literally?????? after having a mass shooting near my home I realized its become a normalcy in this country now and that it truly can happen anywhere at anytime

Yeah, I think so. And that infuriates me. The shooter should have committed suicide without taking another life. I wonder if there was a specific reason the victim was targeted? It seems unlikely that a shooter would only kill one victim before committing suicide if the victim was randomly chosen.

I'll take a random guess and say it was passional but he wanted to make a big impact or his plan failled since most students were out of his range and decided to kill himself

The student shot and killed his professor. The student then shot himself.

I go to UCLA and honestly people are now using this as an excuse to have finals canceled. It makes me sick somebody would use this professor's death as a way of not wanting to take finals. Sure, I'd love my finals canceled but i'm not going to bitch about it if they're not.

If anybody wants to donate, the funds will go to the professor's family.

So, here's an update:

- The shooter was NOT a 6' tall white man as originally reported, but a man of apparently Bengali descent who earned his PhD three years ago under the victim's supervision.

- Apparently he killed the professor because he believed that he had "stolen" his research.

- He had a "kill list" that included another UCLA professor (who happened to be away from campus yesterday)

- A new victim was found, but she was killed in another state. She may have been the killer's girlfriend.

- Oh, and some nasty morons have decided to somehow twist and use this story so that it fits an anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant narrative. Lovely.

She was his wife, not his girlfriend.

The former student only killed himself because he had believed he had been caught.

Another professor held the door closed so he wouldn't be let out after hearing the first two gun shots.

At this point, he believed cops were outside and shot himself.

There were three gun shots, two were shot at the professor and the third was used to kill himself.

A vigil was held for the professor last night.

The worst part about all of this is that it happened so close to finals. Like we're all just trying to study to finish this quarter and then this happens.
