Idk why all the Selena stans are celebrating. Even with this second week drop, Ariana will still have like a 43k pure sales lead over where Selena was by her second week total. Anyway, Ariana's still doing pretty well worldwide, which is what matters most because the US isn't the only country in the world. I just hope the sales can be more consistent after the second week, which will be helped by the performance of future singles.
Considering Reflection only sold 60K pure sales last year and sales have gotten even worse () since then, I'm not too disappointed. If they open with 80K SPS, which I think they can, nothing will have really changed total wise.
This sales climate is tragic and it has nothing to do with any newer artists lack of anything. Notice how the only acts selling well had established fanbases at least 5 years ago. It's 2016 and soon album sales just aren't gonna be a thing anymore. The sooner people lower their definition of "normal" sales, the quicker we can focus on what will continue to be the most important indicator of an artist's success: streaming.
