I saw it and thought it was a disappointing MESS.

I'm a HUGE fan of the series, but Mystique was awful. What is her superpower again? Giving speeches?

Also, the reviews were right, how many times can Magneto commit mass homicide (this time in the hundreds of millions) and have professor X still say "There is good in him!" COME ONNN.

Oscar was fine, but his makeup was HORRIBLE, it was sitting terribly on his face, made his nose look like comically huge. I swear he looked like a goblin mixed with Papa Smurf and it was not cute.

I was also sad Jujubee was only in it for 30 seconds, and they had the audacity to tell the press 6 months ago how cool her powers were going to be.

Maybe if Bryan Singer stopped doing lines off the backs of aspiring LA twinks and actually sat down and planned a cohesive movie, it would have fared better.

The first little bit in Egypt was FANTASTIC tho

Yeah, like you say though a drop from those mega opening weekends isn't so bad, Apocalypse needs consistency though as it got lower opening to begin with

Mystique is not a massive battle character power wise, she did what she could with her passive/sneak powers (and failed ) she was never going to compete with the heavy hitters.

Magneto did low-key go in circles story wise again yeah, but you can see why he was angry from his point of view and wanted to cause destruction and death to those people who repeatedly take everything away from him. He tried to be the good guy and it still blew up in his face through no fault of his own. He could have just left that man to be crushed to death but he saved him in a selfless act (risking exposure) and they still hunted him and his family down.

And I get it, I totally understood why he was doing it and whatnot, I just felt this movie was really messy and was poorly executed in almost every way.

I have no issue with people liking it! I just hold these movies to a standard, and this was like the worst of everything the series had to offer, so many of the choices that were made (pretty much ANYTHING with Mystique) were IMO done to cash in and not to make the most out of these super cool characters.

HOWEVER: At the end, the last shot of the group I was super excited for the next one, the new cast is fantastic.

yeah I think a lot of people went in with massive standards and high expectations, which is a good thing but also sets people up for disappointment if its not what they thought it would be.


Yeah that end scene was amazing so was the start with the original horse men

I really hope the 90s film opens with the danger room and a version of the animated music from the 90s that would literally send the internet into a frenzy if they teas it in the trailers

Would you guys buy a "jubilee cut" (no joke) like they did with the rogue cut? I wonder how the DVD sales did and if it would be worth them doing it again.

Eww why bother, I'd rather see a Psylocke cut and more of her background and doing more action stuff.

Generally people seem most interested in seeing the Jubilee parts that were cut. Although Psylocke and Storm must have had more to do originally as well.

Bryan already said that there wouldn't be a different cut of the film because nothing significant like Rogue's story was cut from Apoc.

The scene's they cut weren't actual story arches.

Watched a second time, I liked it more actually. Tho some of the cliche parts were SUPER grating this time around. Still enjoy tho!

I don't know how people can set their expectations so high to be THAT disappointed. I mean First Class and DOFP were good but nothing to set such high standards. That being said I enjoyed this movie a lot more than the first two.

And I agree about milking the 90s thing. The ending literally gave me CHILLS. I need more 90s tease.

Given that they totally ignored her origin story about her African kingdom and made her some random mutant thief in Egypt, I don't know where they would even go with it.
