Roman Polanski faces a fresh extradition challenge after the Polish government announced Tuesday it would appeal a court decision not to force him to face US courts over a 1977 child sex conviction.
Zbigniew Ziobro, Justice Mnister and Prosecutor-General said his decision to file an appeal to Poland's supreme court against a court ruling confirmed last November not to extradite the Oscar winning director was because Polanski was "accused of and wanted for … a rape of a child."

On March 11, 1977, three years after making Chinatown, Polanski was arrested at Jack Nicholson's home for the sexual assault of 13-year-old Samantha Gailey, who was modeling for Polanski during a Vogue magazine photo shoot around the pool.
Polanski was indicted on six counts of criminal behavior, including rape. At his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to all charges. Many executives in Hollywood came to his defense. Gailey's attorney next arranged a plea bargain in which five of the six charges would be dismissed, and Polanski accepted.
I feel like this resurfaces every year. But yes, incredibly disturbing. The man made some masterpieces once upon a time (Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown, etc.) but it doesn't excuse what he did and that he escaped the law. It was kinda gross when all of his peers gave him a standing ovation after the fact when he won an Oscar thirty years later..
OT: So what next? Just jail him but I guess money talks
Sad because I studied his films (Rosemary's Baby -- I think that's my fav film of all time) for Film Studies & Repulsion. He's so talented but he did a cruel thing.
He's the scum of the earth. The many many stories I've read from people who he abused for many years but it was too late to get justice served by the time they were going to get him arrested
Trust me, although this seems bad, if you knew what the real seedy Hollywood was like underneath all the glamour, with the world's biggest child prostitution and **** links, you would see it in a different manner.
He SO deserves it, but Ziobro is a literal scum on Earth, a venegeful pile of ****, so I have a hard time supporting this extradition. It's a ploy, calculated to cover up the mess they are making with our Constitutional Tribunal. The international media will start going on how finally our justice system is doing what it should have, despite our government going all Austria '33 on it.
