Okay while I hate Ann, I don't think her "offense" was that bad? If they were Chinese then they WERE Chinese. While I don't think i've ever heard the term "Mandarin Chinese," there's nothing really offensive/demeaning/rude/archaic in that language.

And I don't understand the other lady's point? Asians are not all the same. I'd rather people acknowledge that there are many different cultures from Asia rather than just lump us into "Asian American."

The larger picture here is that we are AMERICAN. She is clearly pushing that kind of idea that Asian people are foreigners and therefore cannot be American. This is the problem I have with what she is saying, and its actually the main problem.
