Nobody is trying to lecture you. US politics can influence everyone, not only US citiziens. That's why people are talking about it even outside the US. The same would happen for other important countries, but especially the US, which is arguably the most influent country of the Western World as of now. Everybody is entitled to have an opinion. Besides, Ellie didn't tell you who to vote for. She just attacked him over a rather stupid sentence he said
