Me and that friend stopped playing before Gen V was released to. I wonder why

Contest were kinna extra and annoying in RSE, I didn't understand how they worked

I'm probably restarting my 274 hour save file () to start a new Diamond file tonight, actually.

There's a slim chance I might do Platinum though.

Idk how y'all play the old games. I tried so hard but everything looks so ugly and outdated.

Red/Blue/Yellow -> 1 Month
HGSS/GSC -> 5.5 Years
ORAS/RSE -> 7 Months
DPP -> 3.5 Years
BW/BW2 -> 4 Years
X/Y -> 8 Months

Each pokemon game and the time I last COMPLETED it 100%. I played through BW and HGSS but quit so many times in the middle of it HGSS and BW/BW2 are the only ones I've fully beaten once. I beat RSE and DPP like 20 times

It's what we grew up on - I know some people might feel differently, but I'm really big on the nostalgia factor.

I also would argue against Gen 2-4 looking ugly at all - outdated maybe, but I loved Gen 3's aesthetics and sprites (I nerded out pretty massively when they included them in Gen 6 features like the DexNav) and I really like Gen 4's as well, especially HGSS. I also appreciate Gen 2's - I think Gen 2 is beautiful but simple. Of course, it's the one I started with, so there's some bias - which is also why I love HGSS!

I agree the graphics are such a pain to get through but after like an hour of gameplay you get used to it. Low-key I've been shading DPP so much this past year but i'm really excited to play through it again for some reason. I'm gonna be Dawn and be a pageant queen like I always was as a kid

I still haven't bothered to beat White 2 (and I don't own Black 2, the only main series game I don't have). Waste of time TBH.

I don't know how many times I've beaten each Gen or set. Countless times over for every Gen 2-4 game though!

The only characters in the whole main series I haven't played as are Dawn, Hilda (:toofunny2), and the other Gen 5 girl.

I've played as Lyra but I quickly abandoned that because I hate her for replacing Kris.

Seeing Snowpoint in 3d I think it'd be beautiful. We haven't had a solid ice/snow place since Gen 4.

Also someone pointed out that Pearl Harbor + Diamond Peak are the two biggest tourist attractions in Hawaii, and said that might be a hint at Gen 7 having the remakes for DPP

I think this would be a good move, a nice, nostalgic send-off for the 3ds. I do think if nintendo is releasing a new handheld console it would be best for DPP remakes to be on it, but they would likely just put it after the core Gen 8 game at that point.

If we do get Diamond/Pearl remakes in Gen 7, I see them skipping remakes in Gen 8 like they did in Gen 5. I don't think BW will get a remake till 2021-2022 at least

I don't Gen IV will get a remake, not anytime soon. It won't make sense since you can capture it's legendaries in ORAS. Maybe in GenIX

About time we start stanning for the best Generation.

I think we will get Gen 4 remakes when you can't play the original on a console.

I kinda want to play Gen IV again when my semester is done tbh. Especially since I missed both HGSS and Platinum.

I try to get back into Gen III sometimes (mostly Gale of Darkness, though), but them movepools and lack of special/physical split are PAINFUL to stomach.

I wouldn't bet on Gen 7 Sinnoh remakes, but I think it's a possibility. We'll probably know once Sun and Moon are out - if it's going to happen the references will be everywhere.

But I also wouldn't be surprised if we actually visit Kanto again sooner than Sinnoh, because it's been longer since a main-series game was set in Kanto with the original story than it's been since DPPt. But I don't know if the remake cycle will ever hit a region twice.
