The Spice Girls were all known by name and had distinct personalities that were showcased in their music, fashion, and live performances. Fifth Harmony's music, even though they are BOPS, can be sung by anyone. They aren't there yet.

I actually like the group, but come on. Their PR should let them do their thing without shoveling out these comparisons, especially when their actual sales and hits, to date, are nothing to write home about. They're no phenoms yet. And that's the thing. Yeah, sales and chart peaks aren't everything, but the Fifth Harmony name doesn't carry that much weight, especially compared to their predecessors such as SG, TLC, DC, PC, DK, etc.

Fifth Harmony are a group of tacky, glorified Beyoncé-wannabes with no charisma or likeable qualities. Not to mention their music is ridiculously bad and indistinguishable. The best they have is their PR team!

No disrespect, but NO GIRLBAND has even come close to the phenomenom that was The Spice Girls.

Wannabe is considered one of the most well known songs of ALL TIME. Only people who LIVED the Spice/Spice World era understands how big it was. Teenagers think it was huge....... but it was more than that, it was a GLOBAL FEVER.

Let's not bring up sales. Sales are irrelevant now a days.

I think what they mean by saying that is that 5H is the "it girl group" right now in terms of popularity, appeal and hits. I doubt they or any other current or upcoming gg will ever reach the Spice Girls success but you gotta admit whether you like them or not that 5H's success is making history this decade. So yeah, they are the new Spice Girls in a way.

(Although I think they are more like PCD or DC in terms of style, music, etc whereas Little Mix are the ones more like the Spice Girls but that's another story).
