Calvin Harris tried 4 times for murder, he is finaly cleared
Emotional ex-millionaire who has been tried FOUR TIMES for his wife's murder since she vanished on 9/11 breaks down as he's finally cleared for good
- Calvin Harris's wife, Michele, disappeared from their home on Sept 11, 2001
- Harris was worth $4million, and risked losing money in a divorce, cops said
- Not he's free - but says he was 'robbed' of his kids' childhoods
- Harris, who lost much of his money, is considering suing the authorities
- This was his fourth trial after others that ended in 2007, 2009 and 2015
- New evidence, court errors had the first two 'not guilty' verdicts overturned
- And the jury in the third trial failed to come to a conclusion
Quote:
A New York man who lost millions defending himself four times against accusations that he murdered his wife is finally able to walk free after 15 years.
Calvin 'Cal' Harris's wife, Michele, then 35, vanished from their home on September 11, 2001. She and Harris, who was then 38 and worth $4million, were going through a divorce - and cops said he murdered her to keep his money.
He underwent four trials between 2005 and today, each one ultimately collapsing. Now, finally, Harris is free - with a fraction of his former wealth.

Crying: Harris cried as he recalled how he'd been 'robbed' of his kids' childhoods. 'I've been ripped away from my kids three times now,' he said. 'That's been hard.' He may sue the authorities in light of his acquittal
Quote:
'When [the judge] first came out and started talking, I thought I was done,' Harris, now 54, told reporters, according to CBS News. 'I was numb. When he came back with not guilty, I was shocked.'
And he began to cry as he recounted how he had been 'robbed' of his 'right as a father' to raise his children.
'I've been ripped away from my kids three times now,' Harris said, crying. 'That's been hard.'
He added that although it was now over, the 15-year ordeal, which he called a 'horrible abuse of power,' had taken its toll on his entire family.
'We can now finally move forward and make plans in our lives as normal people do,' he said.
'But I can tell you there will be no celebration at our house tonight. There are no winners in this case. Everybody loses.'
And Harris's lawyer, Bruce Barkett, said that he was determined to make hold responsible for his client's repeated trials accountable.
'The people that hunted Cal Harris for 15 years - today, the hunted become the prey,' he warned.
|
Family: Harris's children (pictured with Michele prior to 2001) have always stood by their father. Michele's body was never found after her disappearance
Still together: Harris's children helped support him emotionally throughout the multiple court cases. He said Monday that he had been 'robbed' of his right to raise them

Should have posted "Calvin Harris Murder Charges Cleared" for the hit thread

But seriously, if he didn't do it I'm so happy he's finally done with it. And how on earth was he able to be tried 4 times for the same crime? Doesn't that follow under double jeopardy?

They probably tried him for something else if new evidence is found.

9/11?
Did she by any chance work or know someone near the twin towers before the incident?
