This is my biggest fear with drastically increasing the minimum wage. I do think it should be raised, but too much too fast would open up this threat more easily. And as someone who has implemented AI before, this wouldn't be hard to implement and would make large savings overall. Companies could easily get away with this.
I think this is the way of the future, but we need to be able to find new forms of work for people that will eventually be laid off, unfortunately. I'm not a fan of robots serving me food. I enjoy the human interaction, but I think this is inevitable. After the assembly line became standard, we automated it. I'm sure we'll do the same for many branches of work.
