I've created this thread for all of us who are looking forward to working/findind a job in the UK this summer.
I've never done this before in my life but I have the possibility to go and earn money on my own this year. Is finding a summer job for young people in London difficult (or generally in the UK)? Do they pay well? Share your thoughts and experiences, please.
My first job was hard to find because I had no experience. When I left it and handed out CVs, I had a ton of calls back. The best time period to find a job is August/September because it's back to school sales + the students are leaving for uni. Good luck! I get paid like Ł7.20 an hour which is decent
I started working in retail when I was like 16, just about to finish my third year at uni and going to try and find a job for summer. I've worked in retail and bars while I've been at uni but I'm thinking of getting more permanent work I've heard manpower is a good agency.
I'd say hand CVs out at shopping centres if you want to work in retail and check on websites, Next is really good for taking on new workers.
I'm in the same position as you OP, no experience looking for my first job (began applying last month). The tough part for me is that it has to be accounting/finance related for me to get my degree, if it was anything else I'm sure I would get calls because my school grades are great; but that's not the case for finance positions. I'll keep trying though..

I have a friend who's going to London for the summer to work and I was like what are you gonna do and he said something like waiter and I wonder why he's going to London for it when he could easily do it in Italy + he barely speaks English

Well, they pay better. You can a lot of social experience plus its fun.
I live in Norway, but I know how hard it is to get a job without experience. I applied for 110+ jobs from January 2015 to March 2016. I finally got a job at Ben & Jerry's in April. It'll work out in the end, guys!! Never stop applying!
