The reason it feels like I've been banned for a long time on ATRL... is because I have! (Relatively speaking.)
An evil mod/modlet gave me three consecutive three-point warnings. So I've been essentially banned for two months.

once someone was insulting me on another persons wall and i asked Mods and they only said i should put them on ignore. so that's possible, i guess.
