Madonna didn’t like Britney stealing her thunder

Madonna took the stage later that night, for a Prince tribute that ended up being savaged by fans on social media and celebrity blogs. That was just the beginning of a very bad night for Madge, the report says.

It started when she saw Britney backstage, and she got the feeling that the younger pop star was about to steal her thunder. Insiders tell Radar that Madonna was throwing a fit and acting like a spoiled diva, when Britney hadn’t even done anything to upset her.

“Madonna flipped out backstage and was yelling at Britney's dancers. It seemed like she could not handle the fact that Britney was getting so much attention from the producers of the show. She went absolutely berserk!!!!!!” one spy says.

To Britney’s credit, she tried to not pay any attention to the tantrum. “She handled herself incredibly well backstage. She didn't allow Madonna's cattiness to affect her mood or her performance,” says the insider. “She was not about to let Madonna steal her night and she completely ignored the childish antics.”
