Duel #4
The Rave
prezli |
Remmy |
prezli - Scooter - Move Your Ass (Extended Version)
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - I wouldn't go to a rave playing this but I can't deny it fitting your theme well. I knew this location was a lot more instrumental based than others so I needed you guys to come hard with some EDM breakdown stuff and you did that for me. It even mentions ravers at one point. Nice pick.
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Mindless and barely there lyrics, the lack of a song structure, and nonstop uptempo beat perfectly embody a rave. Great job!
Quote:
Element – 8.5 – I wasn’t particularly inspired by either of the rave entries, honestly, but this one had more energy to me.
Remmy - will.i.am feat. apl.de.ap & 2NE1 - Gettin' Dumb
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - This seems too urban-based to really fit into the EDM that rules raves. Lyrically, it's a good fit but it's just not the right track for my sonically. I needed some more breakdowns and less of an urban beat in some parts.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - Good choice, however most of the song and its lyrics are more reminiscent of a bar or club scene, as opposed to a rave like the other entry. Good job though.
Quote:
Element – 8 – I wasn’t particularly inspired by either of the rave entries, honestly, but this one had less energy to me and felt more suited to clubs than a giant party.
Winner!

Ch At least my scores were still alright.
My other option was a song that really did fit the rave sound but was lyrically absent, so I know I would've probably done better with this anyway.

Duel #5
A Wedding
SlimSHADY |
rl231 |
theREALslimSHADY - Train - Marry Me (First Dance Mix)
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - I love that you specifically chose this version because it shows you thought pretty deep into this. This version is a little more fuzzy and intimate than the original and what is more personal than a damn wedding ceremony? Well besides what comes after. My only complaint is the cafe lyric throws this off a tiny bit but otherwise really cool choice!
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Perfect, the lyrics and soft ambience capture the beauty of a marriage and the wedding.
Quote:
Element – 10 – What I liked about this song is that it has more of a sentimental, romantic quality to it that fits a wedding well!
rl231 - Bruno Mars - Marry You
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - Obviously it's about getting married but the way it's referring to marriage seems a lot more Vegas chapel-ish than like an actual wedding ceremony. I wanted something more romantic and fuzzy both lyrically and sonically and this isn't exactly that though it's still a solid entry.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Great choice! My idea of a wedding, which the other entry captures well, would be captured by a more softer song, however.
Quote:
Element – 9 – This is also a really good choice, with references to a wedding/church, but I feel like it’s more focused on a drunken escapade rather than a true romance.

Winner:
theREALslimSHADY - 9.8
Congrats fatty.

Below will be the next two duels only so you guys know who won. The end result has already been decided.
Duel #6
The Strip Club
Sebas |
Xed Lodz |
Sebas - Britney Spears - Gimme More
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - This song is extremely club. But when I think of a strip club, I don't think of a song like this. This is more suited for normal clubs than strip ones. Lyrically, this sort of works since she talks about performing for others but it's more about her getting touchy with another person while others watch than actually working a pole like in the music video. LIke I said, this is total dance club material but not really strip club.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Good choice, but it doesn’t capture the essence of a strip club as well lyrically as the other entry does.
Quote:
Element – 9 – I feel like this was a great entry and captures certain aspects of the club, but it just wasn’t as descriptive as it could have been.
Xedretinz Lododnz - Ludacris - Pusssy Poppin
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - Lyrically, this is literally about strippers dancing so you're perfect there. I just wish this had a better beat for strippers to dance to since that's literally the lyrical meaning of the song. Either way, a very fitting entry for what I envision strip clubs to be: ratchet and totally unpolished.
Quote:
Brian - 9.5 - Great choice!
Quote:
Element – 10 – Lord, I need a Baptism after listening to this song. It was so explicit and descriptive and pretty much nailed the strip club scene.
Winner:
Xedretinz Lododnz - 9.5
Congrats fatty.
Sebas - 8.3

Duel #7
The Saloon
Tom Vercetti |
Speezy |
Tom Vercetti - Toby Keith - I Love This Bar
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - Actually the perfect song for this location. I purposely picked a picture with saddles because I wanted to drop the hint that saloons are heavily associated with cowboys and the country. This obviously has that country ambiance and lyrically deals with drinking which is the main event at saloons. Awesome choice.
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Lyrically and sonically captures the saloon atmosphere, great job!
Quote:
Element – 10 – A great snapshot of a Western bar/saloon type setting. Perfect choice!
Speezy - The Rumjacks - Irish Pub Song
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - Eh, I know you may not have known what a saloon was but my picture was a direct hint and you could have just looked it up real fast to see the country association they have. If you had just chose a standard bar song, I would have still given you a solid score but Irish pubs have such a different vibe to them than saloons. I mean, just listen to that flute playing in the instrumental. Not a terrible choice since your song is still about drinking but you had to look into this one a little deeper than you did.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - A saloon is a bar or a pub, so you obviously did great here with the lyrics and sound. Unfortunately I think the category was more about the Old West saloons, which would have been captured better by a country song.
Quote:
Element – 8 – When I think of “saloon,” I think more of the Wild West, and this was implied by the picture Dylan provided. This song was also rather intense and too rock-oriented for the theme.
Winner:
Tom Vercetti - 10
Congrats fatty.
Speezy - 8.2

Congratulations Tribe Maji Maji on your second win of the season as a new tribe. You are all safe this round.
As for Tribe Kayntaya, one of you will become the eleventh eliminated castaway after this Tribal Council. When you are ready, PM me the name of the person you want eliminated from your tribe. If you change your mind, simply send me another PM with an updated choice for elimination. There isn't necessarily a due date for votes but it also shouldn't take a full day to complete. Remember, wesleywalrus is all immune from elimination.
Note:
Anyone who does not vote will have an automatic vote against them at Tribal Council.
Good luck everyone.
- Dylan
