I do the same with the organic natives. It's possible. Here are my teams for X & Y. I also included my Z team, had there been 1 w/ no new Pokemon additions
Couldn't evolve my queens Flopfume and Pumpkaflop because no 1 wanted/could trade with me
Shouldn't call my Spritzee Flopfume since it pretty much swamped everybody w/ Moonblast and some hold item I forget the name.
