Hey healthy people!
I was browsing online and came across this awesome challenge / lifestyle thing that seems to have been made by a group of community-based yoga studios.
It has a bunch of different areas - like going for walks, reading, eating plant foods - and assigns points to them based on how much you do each day. So, for example - 1 point for being in nature for half an hour, 2 for another etc. and 10 points awarded for not eating animal products, 1 point for 3 serves of herbal tea, etc.
At the end of your day, calculate the points you've accumulated and them tally them using the box at the bottom - which'll say either that you've had an 'off-day', 'absolutely amazing' day or something in between.
It reads;
Quote:
If you want to be stronger, more grounded, and feel lighter, if you are a yogi, an athlete, or a shaman preparing for a ceremony, if you have cancer, diabetes, or any of the early signs of heart disease, if you aspire to live beyond 100 years with excellent health and, meanwhile, want to leave only a shallow footprint, and/or if you have an adventurous spirit and like a challenge, do this chart!
|
and it seems a great rubric for all-round good health.

Your wrists shouldn't be moving around much when doing them. Wrist flexion and extension use your forearm muscles, not your biceps, so if you're working on curls and using your wrist you're cheating your bicep out of doing all the work.

See im confused. My trainer at the gym told me to bend my wrist as i curl up. I only use a 10 lbs weight. maybe he was just messing with me. :deadbanana2
Thanks for help and congrats on getting your recovery!

Thanks sir!
Is he one of those gym employees who are called "trainers" because they know a bit about the gym, or is he an actual certified personal trainer?
You could also try stretching your wrists really well before curling next time, but if you still have problems I'd say screw the wrest flexing -- slightly toned forearm muscles aren't worth any potential radiocarpal injury.

What gym do you go to?
Chances are he has no idea what he's taking about, so be pretty wary of any advice you get from him or any similar employee.

Theres not such a think, just eat less than your maintenance, even alcochol can fit in your daily allowance if you eat less throughout the day.
Been intermittent fasting for 10 days now and it looks great! I am getting used to the schedule and my weight is going down Can't wait for those disgusting love handles to evaporate..

Sort of gained some weight (4 pounds ) over the semester. I've been doing 30 minutes on the treadmill everyday at 6/10 speed (10 being, like, sprinting speed).
I used to be like 130 pounds and now I'm 135. Kind of want to get down to 130 again.

Keep doing what you are doing for the most part. If you're trying to lose belly fat, then you'll need to continue exercising but make sure you have a calorie deficiency in your diet. You won't be growing as much muscle like you were before, but you'll start to tone up.

It's harder to gain muscle for tall and skinny people (ectomorph body types) so you'll see results more slowly than a lot of other people. Obviously the best way to gain muscle is to lift weights but if you don't feel comfortable with that, there are some body weight exercises that can be nearly as good. I've used an app called Freeletics before, it focuses all in body weight exercise plans. It's free to view about half of the work out plans so you can start it for free and then start paying for the app monthly to view the rest of it if you think that's working for you.
Also, to gain muscle you'll need to eat more calories than you're burning off, but make sure it's all healthy food because you don't want to have a dirty bulk.

Thanks for your time!
Yes it really is, I eat a lot but I can't get fatter, my alimentation is really bad tho, I'm a junk food person, I have to improve that. I bought some weights some time ago and I lift them sometimes but I should do it more often. Thank you for the recommendation, I'm downloading it for sure and I'll tell you how it goes!
I'm sorry if you don't understand something but my native language is not english. Thank you so much!

Cellucor HD 2 pills in the AM, 1 in the evening before my work outs, just regular whey protein like a serving 2/3 times a day, BCAA infused water throughout the day including during my workouts [It's plain so I hate the taste but I've gotten used to it], and Glutamine pills before/after working out and I can already see my abs again
I started my cut at 178 lbs and I'm 168 2.5 weeks later. Probably mostly water weight. It's SO easy for me to lose weight. I just have to maintain a strict diet though and hopefully with all the **** [BCAA, glutamine] I'm taking I'm not losing much muscle.

I haven't posted here in a while. The last time I did, I believe I was active and was committed to the gym. Well, things happened in late 2013 leading into the first half of 2014 (depression and job loss), and I picked back up a lot of weight. Once I got back to square one, I wanted to return to my fitness regimen.
The first pic is me at a birthday party last July, and the pic on the right is me last night. Fitness and health isn't just temporary - it's a lifetime commitment. Hopefully this will encourage others to keep going. I surely will be!
