It's interesting that u post this thread. I don't lead a "normal" life, so my social media is limited. Apart from ATRL (which I now rarely visit because of the triggering racist/sexist/fatphobic/transphobic/etc. comments), YouTube (which I only visit for entertainment -- I don't really post anything), and yeah, I have no social media. The only social media apart from these is my...social...media? How I am bombarbed (to use the term someone else here used) with representations of how I should "be," look, function, etc.
It's hard, because I am missing out on getting boyfriends, having sex, hanging out with people...I don't have many friends, because I am shy/a perfectionist. This anxiety causes me to feel alone.
While I do exposures in public spaces, it is still hard to navigate the normative world. Not sure if social media is dead, since transphobia, ableism, fatphobia, etc., are still rampant. (They are inextricably tied to the politics of representation -- representation is racialized. Racialization involves gender, dis/ability, size, and other vectors of difference like these.) Generally, nowadays, they are latent. So I'm not sure I agree with the (supposed) "downward" curve of social media.
Other than my studies, I don't have much of a life. I really wish I did though. I have mixed feelings about being normal.
This ambivalence makes me smarter and wiser. I use this wisdom to feel good about myself. I wish I had more people around me, and I am arranging for this every step of the way .

I agree with everything you said. I'm pretty much exact same as well.
One of the things that really bother me on social media is that the most innocent picture/video shared, someone will complain about it. It'll start a fight, and then other people jump on the band wagon as well. You can literally go to any shared post and read the comments and you'll see so much negativity.
I also have a huge problem with television too. Reality shows and news problems really piss me off. It seems that anyone can have a reality show and it's so pointless, these shows have such large number of followers that it makes me sick that people even watch them. News shows on the other hand is a conspiracy in its own right, but even news shows are talking about celebrities and gossip and it's sickening. I want kids to watch tv and learn. I wish kids could grow up watching scientists and teachers. People with wisdom, experience, knowledge, some sort of guidance. I don't know what reality shows are doing. You know I used you watch them all the time, but then I thought I was actually getting dumber by the moment. I had to stop so I could learn about something that was important. I stopped watching competition shows like rupauls drag race after finding out how fixed it all is, the authenticity wasn't there anymore, therefore I can't be bothered by it.
One of the things that you also pointed out, was discrimition of every group/community/characteristic..
Society goes into uproar mode when people body shame, cause racial issues, gender inequality issues.. And yet these companies and corporations are not listening to what the general public has been fighting against and they STILL body shame. They still cause racial issues, gender inequality issues. It's like they are dumb for not realizing the fight and keep the fight going.
