I don't accept Gacy's claims made after conviction. He lost the right to try to explain, justify, or clarify when he stole his first innocent life out of the dozens he took eventually.
Well I get that he was insane and sadistic and that his words don't really hold much weight, but he did have sex with a large number of men and there was gay ****ography found at his house. I think this definitely signals some form of same-sex attraction?

Hmm. Well, I very very slightly see what you're saying, or trying to say. As many have said, I think "infamous" is a better placement of their positions, but they were infamous for being serial killers, not for being members of the LGBT community. Because they weren't. And if you want to argue that go ahead, but the only contribution they had to the "community" was murdering, raping and literally eating tons of innocent young men and underage boys.
"Icon" is a celebratory term, not to be twisted. No one looks to Hitler as a "German icon". He's an infamous dictator.
