Lucy Lawless reportedly wants movie execs to adapt her former TV series Xena: Warrior Princess into a film.

According to WENN, the actress fears that fans will lose interest in the fantasy franchise if it is revived for television.

She said: "I love that character. I would do it if it was a movie. I doubt I would do it as a TV series. I can't see how you would make it fresh."

The New Zealand-born star, who is best known for the cult programme, added that she is desperate for its resurgence on the big screen.

"By the time somebody does come up with that I'm just going to be too old," she said. "And I'm really sad about that. I feel like it's a completely wasted franchise."

My mom used to LOVE LOVE LOVE Xena. Years ago when I was WAY little (like 6 or something) I remember watching Xena with her all the time.

I also remember Xena's arch rival, that girl-- Callisto!! Callisto was a bad guy but I liked Callisto because I thought she was pretty (now I can say that "hot" would probably be a more accurate word but I wasn't thinking that back then) and I liked her hair and her uniform and the way she acted (her attitude!) Now I also know that her character was named after a moon of one of the planets in our solar system.

Wasn't there a rumor that Gabrielle was a lesbian? (How on earth do i remember these names?) Or Xena? Oh I also thought it was cool how Xena used to be bad and part of some evil empire but then decide to be good for reasons that I don't remember.

I own all the seasons on DVD, plus the Anniversary set and plus I got all her CD Soundtracks, and I also got a Xena Letter Sword Opener and a Xena Coin Holder.

She co-starred in Battlestar Galactica, a Sci-Fi show and she looks wonderful and beautiful. She isn't really aged that badly. Doing "stunts" now that's another story, I don't know if she could do all the sword fights and flips. But with our technology, anything is possible.

I think if they were to do this, they better hop on that wagon within the next year. Come on Lucy! Bug your HUSBAND (Rob Tapert) about this! Sam Raimi is just the producer of the show. He also produces Spider-Man. This could be a sign, since Spider-Man 4 isn't going to be done by Sam anymore!

Xena was EPIC if they make a movie adaptation I'll watch it for sure.

I have a feeling though this would flop at the Box Office, but the numbers could surprise us either way.

Everyone that was alive in the 90's does in fact remember Xena. I'm sure everyone has watched an episode out of curiousity. I would think people would go out and see it, again, out of curiousity if they did check it out. It's not an unknown TV show unless you were born sometimes in the 90's. I was like 9 or 10 when I first started watching Xena I grew up on the show!
