They were talking with Linda Perry about the Prince tribute and who should perform. Aisha Tyler pointed out that Prince was a multi-instrumentalist and there should be more musically talented performers that do the tribute and that "Madonna can barely play her own voice."
Sharon Osborne also pointed out that Billboard is about hits and Madonna "has not had a hit in so long." Linda said that if the Billboard Music Awards were creative they would have Chaka (as well as The Time and Sheila E) perform even though they aren't currently relevant.
Look it's really cute to hate on Madonna and all, but she just wrapped up the best selling tour of the year, and I saw it with my own eyes and can attest that she is performing at a physical and technical level that would have Beyoncé / U2 and god knows who else shook.
She is an INCREDIBLE performer, and her career and regular newsworthiness is no fluke - no one flukes a 30+ year career.

They didn't lie I expect her to retire in 2 years tops. Hopefully close that chapter of her life with an amazing album. Farewell tour as well. It's sort of dangerous for a woman of her age to be performing like that (kudos @ her for still trying)
I think a hologram would be better suited for this performance. Prince was an amazing vocalist.
Do people even understand the point of a tribute? Like when did it suddenly become a competition with the deceased artist? NO ONE on earth even comes close to Prince's musical talent so what's the argument?
Does Chaka Khan play instruments?
Can The Time own the stage fiercely and sexually?
WTF is this double standard against Madonna?
Madonna and Prince were colleagues and friends. Both were icons of the 80's, both changed pop music forever, both were daring and controversial, both challenged social thinking through their sexuality, both had amazing stage presence. Yes, Madonna is by no means a musical genius. But WHO can check all the boxes?
