DC's been doing crossovers way before Marvel ever decided to (mostly with their animated shows on Fox Kids). That reboot Hulk movie was just bunched in the MCU after they decided to do crossovers which says everything.

Actually The CW is doing way better lately, last year was great for them, they renewed every single show, and they got critical acclaim and big awards with some series (Jane the virgin and crazy ex-girlfriend) and all their superheroes shows are doing great, while Supergirl was flopping for the CBS standards, so they could have cancell it orcut its budget and send it to The CW

It was expensive for CBS to keep especially with the licensing cost and filming in LA. The CW is not a flop channel. It does pretty well, not great, but still decent. Since CBS co owns The CW, it was a no brainer for the show to move there. Obviously, it's cheaper to film in Vancouver and the budget will be cut, but I think the show will make do.
