When I was dating my ex boyfriend, he always treated me as a female role in our relationship although I was not comfortable with that idea. So I just play along with him. And he always bought showered me with gifts as if I am a female in the relationship. And he felt threatened since I am in Med school and he's not as smart as me.

Don't get me wrong, I am a masculine type of guy but he wanted me to be the female role in the relationship and he is not even a bisexual.

Is there anyone with this kind of experience? Since that was my first dating experience, I want to know whether every gay relationship is like this. Enlighten me ATRL

Most people here are in this kind of situation.....my boyfriend ''has the female role'' too and he's totally masculine (he is a wrestler lol) but he was the one to ask for it....I don't think it's that bad though as long as you don't push it that much....I mean each one must have a different role otherwise it gets a bit confusing I mean I can't imagine 2 gays both having the female or the male role

I've always felt like one of two men in my relationships. Never felt like the "girl" and I don't think my bf's have either.

Never had male nor female "role" in a relationship. We've always both been equal and shared things between us. I mean, I don't believe there schould be two different roles in a mutual relationship no matter what genders are involved.

The weird thing is masculine guys, who date only masculine guys (and avoid feminine guys altogether) but want those masculine guys to be "the female" in relationships. Like, you can't have it both ways. Or tops who hate fems/queens/twinks and wanna hook up with a masculine guy then act surprised when that guy won't bottom for them

Anyway, none of these roles are necessary. It's a lot of fun being in relationships that feel more like a partnership. Both of you take care of each other depending on when you need it. Sometimes one person pays when you go out, sometimes the other person does. One person drives today, the other one does another day, etc
