I can't tell you how many nights I've spend thinking about religion and existence and all that stuff.
Religion is still very strong here where I live, basically because we don't have much influence from other countries. We are a close community, an island of 700K citizens and we're kind of secluded from the rest of the world.
But I'm seeing more and more people starting to question religion and what's being taught to us.

I definitely think Christianity is a bunch of BULL CRAP. It's brainwashing and mass control.

Do I believe in a higher power or SOMETHING? Maybe. I can't say without being wrong or right. I do feel like there must be SOMETHING out there, a power, you want to call it God you want to call it whatever.
But Christianity is basically fan fiction. That's how I perceive it.

I think the Bible is a mixture of literature, philosophy and a few historical facts. The First Testament is a mess, but then it dictates the way of life of a very ancient society

Enough of that though. I can't wait to move dd. The American South is so religious.

The Bible was created to control the masses, shut people up, make them stop asking questions and manipulate them.

Who knows how the world was before all that bullcrap was created? This is why all these isolated tribes were far more advanced and spiritual than we will ever be. They explored the human power and ability, they studied space. They knew so much, such a long time ago.

Now, anyone who dares to think outside the box is deemed crazy. I have a brain and I decide to USE it, instead of living my life by the books, terms and definitions, or what I'm being presented or told.
We live in a virtual reality that some people created long time ago and we just survive. Our lives could be COMPLETELY different, had some people weren't obsessed with power and control.

I'm african-american, my family is VERY religious. But i see the brainwashing it has done. You can't even talk to them about it, without them getting all defensive and there reasoning isn't logical. (prime example of the mind screwing) I told my friend yesterday, as a african-american why in the hell are we serving a religion that was forced on us by our opressors that whipped, chained, rapped and killed us (still doing it today honestly). It makes no sense. And we're worshiping a white man at that, life started in the motherland! Wake the hell up. Something ain't right.

I think it's because people tend to have the need to rely on something other than their selves. I don't have anything against people who believe in a higher power or God. If that gives them power and stregnth to carry on, then they should do that. I'm irritated by those people who take religion so personal that they make it all about proving someone they are right or won't listen to other opinions. They are so close minded that you can't have a casual conversation without things heating up.

Exactly. I'm on my own spiritual walk myself. But the fact that they become so submissive and stupid it sickens me. My dad wouldn't even let me get a word in when we spoke about it. That's fine though many blacks can continue to be enslaved by the bull that was handed too us. I owe it to my ancestors to let that crap go. I just want people to do the research before you just go believing crap because you were TOLD to. Use your damn BRAIN. Stuff just don't add up for me.

This is why I don't believe nor deny ANYTHING. I've come to realize that anything is possible in the world we live in. We think we know so much, but in reality, we don't know ****.

I respect science but I don't really believe in everything that's being presented to us. Just think of how EASY it is to manipulate the people. NASA releases a picture from the moon. People see it and instantly believe it's true because, hey it's NASA. they wouldn't lie to us, would they? When in reality, how can we be so sure that the picture is real? We will NEVER be able to really see what's out there or find out the truth about MANY things because we are not important enough to know the truth(the average person). We just accept what's being told and being shown to us without questioning it.
I'm not saying NASA is a conspiracy or the pictures from the moon are fake. I'm just saying there's a POSSIBILITY that it's not.

This is why I'm at a place in my life where I question everything and every motive there is when it comes to these kind of things. And then I go with my heart. If I feel it inside me that something seems genuine, I go with it. If not, then I question it. The only person I can really trust is myself. Same goes for every living person on this planet.

I grew up in a religion free environment, religions literally have 0 impact on my personal life.

All the people who are close to me now are either atheists or agnostics.

I feel blessed.

I wish my family would wake up. I live in the south near Georgia. Theyre so ignorant and closed minded. I feel bad for them. They think they are saving their souls yet I'm sure they are selling it and don't even know it. Me and my sister have woken the hell up

A couple of weeks ago I stayed in a hostel and found a book called The Wisdom of Insecurity....
Don't know if any of you have read it yet but it basically deals with the human search for comfort and stability in a world that's so vulnerable and uncertain and I cannot recall ever reading something as mindblowing as the author's explanation of gods and beliefs. So go check it out if you don't know it, it is really worth a try and might give you a completely different view on so many things!

wish I had a family member who is also atheist/agnostic

My friend (he is Muslim) and myself engaged in a conversation the other day regarding religion. He asked me numerous questions such as "Do you not ever feel like you need to rely on someone?", "Do you ever wonder why you're here", etc etc. It was a really interesting conversation but I just answered bluntly with "No" to all the questions.

At the end of the day, I just don't have the capability to form a connection with any higher power of some sort. However, I do not shame someone for having that connection. I believe whatever gets ourselves through our day, do that (without causing distress to others of course).
