Nah people thought Frokie was derpy. Chespin and Fennekin were definitely more popular. Then Quilladin killed Chespin and Delphox (and to a lessor extend Braixen too already) killed Fennekin while Froakie prevailed with both evos (and Pokemon pushing it)
