I don't think it's delusion about status moreso than the very loud and rather irrational disdain for Bey from a large segment of Mariah's base and I've never understood why that's the case. It makes absolutely no sense given that they're not peers and have never been direct competition, they are friends and have never had anything but kind things to say about each other -- I honestly don't get where it comes from. It's so strange.
