They need to ban smoking indoors. Not as a hard, enforced law, but as an example to show parents that it shouldn't be done. It's one of the most irresponsible things somebody could do. Absolutely disgusting. Ban it.

I'm surprised that people are surprised by this. Here in Canada, the pictures are pretty much the exact same on the packages, the prices are high, and they are sold behind a counter, not visible to anybody. Smoking is banned from inside all buildings (except your own house of course), you're not allowed to smoke within 10-20 feet from public door ways

Alcohol is worse than smoking? Maybe if we were talking about just nicotine (i.e. vaping), but tobacco is nasty, and cigarettes often have things like rat poison in them

That said, marijuana is way better than both and needs to be legalized globally.

People don't want smokers to smoke in public either. I heard of some woman having an operation because of second hand smoking. She never picked up a cigarette in her life -- ever she was perhaps around someone who constantly smoked but still that's quite sad

This is a mess tbh. I don't smoke but changing the packaging and banning menthol cigarettes won't do anything.

A person's property isn't exactly public, though? Second hand smoke is obviously a lot more dangerous in a confined space. Smoking inside causes such a risk and usually smokers expose their kids to it in this way. They need to take it outside and it should be a law. Also, if they smoke inside, in sight of their children, it will also lead to the mentality that it is ok to smoke. In general, people should just be smart enough to know to take it outside, go stand in the garden and let it blow away as it should, opening a window isn't enough

Not just that, but standing behind someone and having to see those pictures on the counter while you're waiting for them to pay for their stuff too... Like

Why should I have to look at that because someone else wants to smoke.

Then again, if the person is buying multiple things, the shop assistant could and I hope, put it into the bag, but most of the time they always leave it on the counter as people always put the cigs in their pocket.
