Winner of the Eurovision 2016 by the talented Jamala, from Ukraine.
"1944" deals with the deportation of the ethnic Crimeans operated by the Soviet Union. People like Jamala's grandparents were forced to leave their motherland to go live in Central Asia (Jamala was, in fact, born in Kyrgyzstan).
Also, ever since the 2014 invasion of Crimea by Russia, Jamala hasn't been able to go back into the peninsula where her ill grandfather still lives. The tree that can be seen at the end of the performance represents Jamala going back to her roots, to Crimea.
The chorus of the song is sung in Crimean Tatar and they're words Jamala's grandmother repeatedly told when she was little: "Yaşlığıma toyalmadım men bu yerde yaşalmadım", "I couldn't spend my youth there because you took away my land".
I think that more countries next year will sing in their national languages following the example of Jamala, who, for those who don't know, sings the chorus in Crimean Tatar. Lemme add the story to the OP.
