It is a pretty dumb ass decision. She has basically been handed the opportunity to establish a name and solid career for herself in music in the US beyond the pussycat doll who tried really had to break out. She would've killed broadway and she probably just lost a major and influential supporter.

I actually cannot believe she's done this, this is awful for so, so many reasons

Firstly Andrew is hugely iconic where musical theatre is concerned and he legit LOVED her in all the interviews he did on the musical when it was over here in London he raved about her, she was literally his new star.

Secondly I really can't believe she'd be so unprofessional to A. drop out of something this huge so close to its beginning and B. to do it for something as stupid as X-factor which is a gigantic sinking ship as it is??

Thirdly she (as Andrew says) is not hugely well known in America... No shade but her career has been pretty awful, this could have changed things for her in such a huge way.

I pray hard that she did not just do it for the money - but I really can't think of why else she would have done this? She literally could have scored a Tony for this, I saw her in cats over here and she was AMAZING. Everyone was going on about her performance in England for months.

If it wasn't for Andrew explicitly stating all of this in an interview I wouldn't even believe it because she seems so well grounded and I can't imagine her pulling something like this.

I love her but I hope none of her stans are stupid enough to defend this decision, like there is no good light that this can be spun

Although I have do have to say regardless I am really happy she'll be back on x-factor, cause she is amazing on it, but if I had been planning in seeing her on Broadway or something I would've been seething so hard.

I agree completely with you, and I adore the woman. She is so stupid for doing this. I can't defend her at all. XFactor won't help her anyways, she may could get an easy top 3 in the UK, but that's it.

Cats could have brought her acclaim, and the support of Sir Lloyd Webber could have given her so much more oppertunities for future (revival_ productions, tv productions etc.

If she ends up releasing nothing during the XFactor to promote her music, then I will be really mad. Since money and promotion are the only reason to join XFactor at this point.

Yeah that's very true

I can't work out if she has done this for publicity (which as you've said, is unlikely to work very well - it hasn't worked much in the past so I can't see why it would now, unless she manages to create a song that really connects with the gp - but I think a lot of her past material was great and still somehow the gp didn't catch on).

Or if she has just done it for the money, which is very sad if it is the case.

As you've said she could have gotten so, so much from staying in Cats - I fear this will have tarnished her relationship with Andrew now, as let's be fair, it is quite rude and unprofessional what she's done, so she may have lost all chance of working with him again.
