I hate re-reading over old songs and realising how terrible they are
Yeah, same.
I look at old songs and realize that there is always room for improvement. Its kind of like inspiration, only it makes me sad to think about how I once thought that these songs were good.
Will the Platinum Hitlist Twist return, the twist that averaged a song's score one round with a contestant's season average?
Yes!
Season 7 and 8 both used this as a method of providing contestants with a safety net should they have an off week. The concept isn't there to hold contestant's back from reaching new heights, but ensure that those who have been consistent threats and competitors have more wiggle room should they choose to experiment and falter doing so. The season average will grow with weight throughout the season - say, 5% at Round 5 and 6% at Round 6 or something or the sort - but it will NOT reach the 25% weight it reached at one point in Season 8. Don't rely on this to save you, but know that you might still have a chance if things don't turn out how you planned!

True! It's sort of a bittersweet feeling because it helps you recognise how much you've grown as a writer and part of that is recognising your faults.
Hmmm I'm glad the percentage addition has decreased. This twist is cute, I guess
It's good that one bad week doesn't affect your position in the game entirely but also people who haven't been performing that well can make a "comeback". It's a nice balanced compromise.

Yeah, a great example would be Season 7. The Hitlist or running average kept me afloat by .02 in Round 8, but also didn't hinder Lovesong from entering the finals and eventually snatching the game! That's ideally how this should work.
