But there are effective decks that can run without either Penduluums (there's only maybe one Penduluum deck that's a meta standard) or XYZ (this is little uncommon since XYZ are an extra set of tools).

like really sis most archetypes now just summon everything in one turn... even as early as 1st..

tbh i am kinda dissapoint on how fast the meta is nowadays....

IMO the meta was at its best in synchro

of course not all archetypes are like this and there are also the old ones but the strong ones at this point are special summoning their strong cards really fast, oh and the destrunction of opponents cards is mostly done with effects rather than battle...
