Welcome castaways to your 6th results show! Below will be the rates of each entry from all four judges. You were all rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Your average score will be combined into a tribe average which will determine which tribe is losing a member,
After I reveal the scores, I will post the final results which will include how you ranked on your tribe, against all castaways, and finally the overall tribe rankings this round.
The lowest averaging tribe will be headed to Tribal Council where they will vote off one member who will become the first eliminated player of the season.
With that said, here are the scores...
Tribe Maji Maji
1. Navyofbadgals - Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - This one nails the isolation aspect of this round but it doesn't really go into detail about how they don't fit in with the cool kids or how they wish to be a part of that norm. It's more so just a feeling of loneliness in general than isolation in relation to one's peers. Decent but not all the way there.
Quote:
Brian - 6.5 - He definitely feels isolated, but this song is more about being alone than feeling ostracized from his peers.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Solid Choice. Yes, misfits would totally have this as their anthem. Great job!
Quote:
Element – 10 – The emotion is perfectly felt in the lyrics and atmosphere of this song.
2. wesleywalrus - Jordan Pruitt - Outside Looking In
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - This is a song that came to my mind when I was thinking of this round! She clearly feels like an outsider from the cool kids of school and expresses sentiments of feeling lonely and wanting to be in that cool crowd, very simiilarly to my example this round. Examples are there for a reason. Great choice.
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Hit the theme perfectly! She feels like she doesn’t fit in with her peers and feels isolated because of it. Great job.
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - I can see why this is picked. I'm not too sold with the song's connection to the theme but hey, the lyrics hit it.
Quote:
Element – 10 – Great selection of teenage feelings of being on the outside!
3. prezli - Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - There's outsider references with the girl and boyfriend not knowing of his existence but this focuses more on him feeling he's not deserving of this girl's affection than it does feeling like a loser in a crowd of cool kids. I needed more on being a outcast of his peers rather than just a girl he thinks is pretty. However, the whole teenage dirtbag name-calling saves you a bit this round. Okay choice.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - He’s singing about being unknown by the girl he’s in love with, not like an outsider from his peers.
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - My childhood anthem. I love this!
Quote:
Element – 7.5 – This song touches on the theme, but I felt like it was more focused on teenage angst and edginess than anything else.
4. Vulnicura - Radiohead - Creep
Quote:
Dylan - 7.5 - I expected this to fit a LOT better than it really does. I never paid much attention to this song but seeing as it's more so feeling like a weird outcast to a girl he likes rather than society in general, it's not that strong. Usually, specific situations get more credit in this game but this round you needed to apply this outsider feeling to a group of peers rather than one person. The haunting instrumental of this track helps you out a bit though.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - Like prezli’s entry, he’s being hard on himself because he doesn’t believe he deserves the girl he’s in love with, not because he feels ostracized from his peers.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Another solid choice from your tribe. I am in awe whenever this song is played maybe because I can relate to it af
Quote:
Element – 8 – A fair selection that states, “I don’t belong here”, and establishes him as different, but it seems to be very focused on the other subject he is singing about.
5. thecptz - Priscilla Ahn - Fine On The Outside
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - This actually works very well in my opinion. The point of view gets a little twisted but it's clear she wasn't popular as a kid and wonders if anyone even knows who she is. I also think the "i'll be fine on the outside" could be interpreted as more ironic than a blunt statement so I'll take it!
Quote:
Brian - 8 - Nice entry, but not as lyrically about feeling like an outsider as it should be.
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - Wow. This is fitting one lyrically. Emotion-wise, Not too sure.
Quote:
Element – 10 – Ooh this is fantastic. I really love the raw emotion created by her ethereal vocals and the simple instrumental. Great selection.
6. Scene. - Skylar Grey - Invisible
Quote:
Dylan - 8.5 - I've always thought Skylar was dope. She deserved more success as a solo act. This one's title pretty much says it all. She feels invisible and lost in the crowd even when she tries to be like her peers. Really, this one just isn't as specific to what type of rejection Skylar goes through so that keeps it more among the good entries than the great ones this round imo. Regardless, good choice.
Quote:
Yvess - 8 - I miss her. And this song is quite good on first listen, the lyrics helped me in giving this song a decent score.
Quote:
Element – 10 – Great choice! The lyrics are very powerful.
7. Xedretinz Lododnz - Hunter Hayes - Invisible
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - The first verse and some parts of the chorus fit the theme very well but this ends up just being a self-empowerment song than a song of isolation in the end. You have two things going on here but I only think one fits well for this round.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - It fits the theme well, but it’s more of an empowerment song.
Quote:
Yvess - 7.5 - I'm torn between "Hey, this is a song for the broken ones" versus "Here's some inspiring country song" but I love this song way long time ago.
Quote:
Element – 7 – There are some moments in the song that capture what we were looking for, but this ends up being an encouraging empowerment anthem.
Tribe Sahrondo
1. Remmy - Lesley Roy - Misfit
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - Her album was great if you haven't actually listened to her before. Misfit is a synonym for outsider or outcast so you're on point there. She also goes into nobody knowing her name or wanting her, hence why she is called a misfit by others. The only downside is this focuses less on specific lyrics about rejection from peers rather than more ambiguous ones. Still, good job especially with this being a 4th pick.
Quote:
Brian - 8.5 - Not quite as much about feeling isolated from the crowd as other entries, but good job!
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - Strong pick, Remmy! Idontknowher.gif but I'm likin this artist.
Quote:
Element – 10 – Really raw and intense. Great find.
2. theREALslimSHADY - Simple Plan - Welcome To My Life
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - This definitely has that angsty feeling I think goes hand-in-hand with feeling you're an outsider in certain songs. Obviously the guy is an outsider but it also has specific lyrics pertaining to not fitting in and feeling left out to the point they want to be someone else in order to fit in. That's what we were going for this round. There's some off topic information that could go but otherwise a really nice choice!
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Perfect entry! Great job.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Wow. My emo-punk transition anthem. Glad to see you making great choices recently.
Quote:
Element – 10 – Perfect choice! This is like an anthem for outsiders.
3. rl231 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge
Quote:
Dylan - 8 - Alright, this works mostly. It seems like the city has become his only real companion and he's otherwise alone hence the reason he's personifying the city. Weird, but one of the better entries this round actually.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - Fits the theme of isolation, but not much about feeling like an outside amongst his peers like the other songs. Great job though.
Quote:
Yvess - 8 - Decent choice. The thing with Rhcp, sometimes I don't see their sincerity in their songs.
Quote:
Element – 8 – I feel like this entry has some good sections, but ultimately falls a bit flat. He doesn’t want to feel alone, but he also seems focused on his connection with this person.
4. Satan - Marie Digby - Miss Invisible
Quote:
Dylan - 9.5 - This is an awesome choice besides maybe the last four lines but that's very small in the scale of things. It's emotional and it really displays a story of an outsider and her lonely journey through school. Like I said, only downside is the last little part. Though it's clearly a good thing for the girl mentioned in this song haha. Cool choice!
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Almost a perfect song, but suddenly the last few lines turn the song into something positive.
Quote:
Yvess - 8 - Another decent pick. Cute voice, so-so lyrics.
Quote:
Element – 10 – Fantastic! This song told a really great story, and the emotion was easy to feel.

Tribe Kayntaya
1. holyground - Taylor Swift - The Outside
Quote:
Dylan - 9 - You're a step ahead of most people this round since I think your lyrics actually are very fitting this round. Only thing sort of bothering me is this seems a little too cheery for lyrics containing feelings of loneliness and rejection. But that's a small flaw for an otherwise on point entry. Good!
Quote:
Brian - 8 - Kind of vague and not as lyrically strong as other entries, but good job!
Quote:
Yvess - 8.5 - Lovely choice. The lyrics is weep worthy.
Quote:
Element – 8 – I get the sense that this is more about a relationship than a feeling of wanting to be with the “in crowd”… It’s okay, but not great for the theme.
2. Sebas - R.E.M - The Wrong Child
Quote:
Dylan - 8.5 - Track is solid for the most part. Only potential flaw is that we don't know if this dude feels like an outcast in this particular situation or in general from his peers since he does have a friend in the song. Either way, pretty cool choice.
Quote:
Brian - 9 - Great job! Just not as strong lyrically as other entries.
Quote:
Yvess - 9.5 - This is a pretty good choice, no wait, it is a great choice!
Quote:
Element – 8.5 – I definitely see the theme during certain parts of the song, but at other times it feels lost in the description of the setting.!
3. Tom Vercetti - Simple Plan - I'm Just A Kid
Quote:
Dylan - 10 - Both Simple Plan entries were awesome for this round but I like this one more because it focuses solely on feeling rejected from peers without venturing off topic at some points. It's clear this kid is an outcast. Nice job!
Quote:
Brian - 10 - Perfect entry. All about feeling ostracized from society and feeling isolated. Great job.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - Through this round, I realized that Simple Plan's discography is very fitting the theme. Good job!
Quote:
Element – 10 – A really strong choice!
4. Speezy - Priscilla Ahn - Wallflower
Quote:
Dylan - 8.5 - There's really nothing wrong with this entry as it does fit the theme. It's just that in the grand scheme of entries, this isn't as strong as lyrically as others. Good job.
Quote:
Brian - 8 - She feels alone and like an outsider, but it’s not as strong lyrically about being ostracized as other entries.
Quote:
Yvess - 9 - Aww, I can relate to this. Cool choice. Wallflowers unite!
Quote:
Element – 9 – Cute. The first half of the song is really strong, and while it weakens a bit when she connects with the other wallflower, it’s still a great choice overall.
5. Mirrorwriting - Alessia Cara - Here
Quote:
Dylan - 6 - Eh, I don't like this one very much. Yeah, she does feel lonely but it's not because everyone thinks she's a weirdo or anything. She's just not into the status quo of getting high and all that. I mean, she even mentions she has a group of friends to hang out with later. She's isolated, but by choice. That's my problem though I do see why you sent this one in at least.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - It’s not really about feeling ostracized from society and isolated. She just feels alone at this particular party, and even mentions wishing her friends could do something else.
Quote:
Yvess - 7.5 - I'm starting to like her, songs like this is stan worthy. I'm not so sure about this strong connection to the theme tho.
Quote:
Element – 8 – When I first saw your choice, I thought it was a great one for this round! But investigating a little further, I don’t really feel any emotion or sadness from her that would really make this song better for the theme.
6. URBAN - Lecrae - Outsiders
Quote:
Dylan - 6.5 - This one is tough. Yes, they definitely are not cool kids. But, they like being outsiders. They find pride in being different from the status quo and if you saw my example, you'd see that this contradicts that. They're not feeling lonely from being outsiders. They sort of bask in it.
Quote:
Brian - 6.5 - I get it, but unfortunately this song is actually about not fitting in to society’s standards and being empowered by it. He doesn’t feel isolated or alone.
Quote:
Yvess - 8 - I'd like to love this Choice but something is lacking for me. Maybe the emotional transcendence that im looking for isnt there.
Quote:
Element – 7.5 – I’m torn about this one. I think it has some interesting thoughts that address the theme, but ultimately he seems to WANT to be an outsider, which is not what we were looking for.
7. gotintoririfever1 - Switchfoot - Beautiful Letdown
Quote:
Dylan - 7 - This is sort of on the lines of Xed Lod's entry. This guy is an outsider since they literally say they don't belong here. But, this turns into more of an assurance that everything will be okay elsewhere than mourning their outcast status or wishing they could fit in. It's halfway there.
Quote:
Brian - 7 - Doesn’t really mention feeling ostracized by his peers and isolated, song is more of a realization that things will be ok.
Quote:
Yvess - 10 - oh god, I love this song. Fitting choice!!!
Quote:
Element – 7.5 – Another entry from this tribe that skirts the theme, but doesn’t really delve that deep into it. It seems too general in my opinion.
