I think stanning sports teams makes more sense than stanning singers. Unlike singers, sports teams are actually in competition with each other. A vs. B; winner and loser. And supporting a team over a period of time gradually turns into becoming a hardcore fan.

This and it all comes down to the competitive nature of men.

Football (soccer) was invented in Britain and sports in general was promoted in the British Empire as a way to make boys compete, fight,... for victory, feel what it's like to win and prepare them for the purpose of every generation in Europe. There ought to be a world war every 25 years, because that's the amount of time it took to make new kids after a war, raised them to conscription age.

Since going nuclear, all out war between major powers is ruled out. Thus the competitive spirit between the nationalities has to be channelled somewhere else, football gives people that outlet.

And The Beatles showed in 1965 the new way of conquering the world, not with panzers or gun boat diplomacy, but by drawing arena or even stadium loads of people in the cities on the other side of the world to see their idols like the political mass gatherings. Superstars can be revered by the people more than the monarchies, political leaders, religion,...



It's rather harmless that we replaced wars and idolizing dictators with football and stanning madness.

lots of reasons! who your family supports, your city's teams, where your favorite players play, or just simply who you think is the best

It's similar but not that much

Ppl that make it into the league have worked years to craft their skills and get where they are...they train day in and day out and they have to work together to actually succeed

It's not to knock the hustle of even artist...but y'all do it yourself when you say "why do ppl stan for this??? They have no talent, are lazy and make microwavable..." or when y'all get mad when someone gains traction and your first response is "white teen girls will make anyone happen"

It is the exact same thing on a lot of levels.
