I don't get the point of attending a religious school. Can't you just attend a secular one and go do your religious activities outside of school hours?

I mean they're relevant to society so lgbt issues should be a part of school curriculum, just like how we teach about civil rights and women's suffrage.

Sometimes parents want to send their child to a private school sort of thing or just get them out of the public school system, but need a cheaper version of that. A private religious school costs less than a private secular school, usually.

Also of course there are often deeply religious families who want their child to be taught with a focus on or through the lens of their religious community.

Understandable. I ultimately wish when I was in school there was more of a teaching presence regarding LGBT issues.

I went to catholic school and I'm happy because it was THE ONLY good non-private school in the area.

Confused because this is a private institution and those issues aren't necessary parts of a curriculum. We were never taught specifically about same sex relationships and gender reassignment because their not applicable to most of the population. Why should any school have to use their own resources to fund teachers and materials for this?

Religious schools are subsidized by religious institutions and these institutions are the biggest provider of non-governmental education. Without them, the government will be left with an enormous increase in education spending.
