Someone give me the SparkNotes version of what I've missed if I've been MIA since Synchros became a thing (and I only vaguely understand how to use them).

Synchros: To summon them, you need 1 Tuner and 1 or more non-Tuners. Their levels must equal the level of the Synchro you want to summon. A Level 6 Synchro would require let's say a level 2 Tuner and a level 4 non-Tuner. Some Synchros require a specific tuner (like Junk Warrior requiring Junk Synchron) or a specific attribute or type.
XYZ: The newest class of monster class. It belongs in the Extra Deck (filled with Fusions, Synchros and now XYZ). This type of monster is a black colored card that has Ranks instead of Levels (the stars are on the opposite side of the card). To summon a XYZ monster, you have to have at required monsters who are the same level as the XYZ's rank. To summon say a Rank 4 XYZ like Number 39: Utopia, you have to have TWO Level 4 monsters. You pile them together and place the Utopia over them and tada, you have performed an XYZ Summon. XYZ are different that their abilities are triggered by using Overlay Units (the monsters that are placed underneath the XYZ when you summoned it).
There are also different classes of XYZ. Many of them are often summoned by using Spell Cards called "Rank Up Magic" and there are different version of "Rank Up Magic"; and each one has a different method of summoning more powerful Chaos Number monsters. The Chaos Numbers monsters are often summoned this way or by upgrading (by placing an XYZ and all its overlay units together in a pile) to summon a Chaos Number version of that monster. C39: Utopia Ray is summoned by using a Number 39: Utopia as the XYZ material including its units. There are also XYZ that can only be summoned by "Rank Up Magic" spell cards. They are the most powerful version of XYZ out there for this reason.
