Six dogs rescued from a Korean dog-meat farm are now at a Dallas shelter, where they’ll soon be put up for adoption.

The dogs arrived at the SPCA of Texas early Tuesday. They were part of a group of 250 dogs rescued from a farm in Wonju, South Korea, by Humane Society International earlier in the year.

The Humane Society said it worked with the owner of the farm to permanently shut down his operation. The group will continue to check on the man, who said he would now focus on scrap metal as a trade.

I'm so happy for them they'll be able to be adopted soon when they get checked and make sure they're fine I read the farm was horrible and the dogs lived in horrible conditions. Glad the farmer decided to stop doing that. The rest of the dogs are going to different shelters across the US.

Great news! Glad the operation has been shut down (hopefully)!

Yall need to understand that South Korea used to be a dirt poor country that used to get aid from African countries and wild dogs were always readily available. Dog meat played a big part of their culinary history. It's been declining for years now since Korea became westernized and the last few people who eat dog, eat it for cultural reasons.

I'm glad they're getting these dog farmers to go into other business ventures and I'm glad the dogs didn't have to be killed, I hope they get into nice homes.

Shouldn't we do this for all animals then? Animals know when they are being slaughtered, its not fair that dogs get privileged treatment when even pigs are more intelligent. Whats the difference from eating a dog, a horse, or a cow?

It's definitely hypocritical, the Western world sees dogs as "off limits" for food and sets its standards for all other nations that don't even share same similar histories or cultures. Dogs are seen as friends worthy of human respect, while pigs and cows and chicken are seen as bacon, steak, and kfc, respectively. It's sad but that's the way it is, and this mindset is rapidly spreading into other cultures.

Then you should complain about the rest of them getting slaughtered and not for not all of them getting slaughtered.

A human has a conscience, they know right from wrong. A human can make the choice to be good or bad, they don't rely on instinctual behavior.

A wolf is a predator, they aren't self aware. They live on instincts, because of this a wolf can't be evil or good because they lack the capacity to know right from wrong. This requires a higher level of intelligence. Something only humans have.

So a human killing a pig is a choice that took mental thinking, a wolf killing a pig is instincts something as simple as our lungs breathing without us telling it to breathe.

I have no problem with any animal being eaten except for maybe if they were like the last 10 on Earth of that species.

Can you show me a colony of wolves that have mastered agriculture?

Realistically, we shouldn't eat any animals and if we ever managed to make a synthetic meat that got everyone to go vegetarian/vegan, we could end so much cruelty, monoculture, pollution and habitat destruction. Giant cattle farms are awful for our world.

I just will say that neither of the sides are correct but they're not wrong either.
