I really don't understand the Halsey hate. I mean, Badlands is such a solid, promising debut with consistently interesting songs. And then you see stans on here trashing it as if it's the worse album they've ever heard, yet they're the same ones who swear by cookie-cutter crap like Blackout, Teenage Dream, and Loud. I don't get it.

I agree with some of his points about her manufacturedness and her awful vocal performances. But her music is generally good and she's served up quite a few bops in her short career so I give her a pass.

I don't need to go through the whole video to sort of get where he's going with it. I agree to an extent. The thing that just turns me off is that she thinks she's being innovative, but everything is just straight off of a Tumblr dash, like he was insinuating. It's the world she comes from, so it makes sense to play to it. And she's not the only artist to do that. It's just that I feel like she gets sort of wrapped up in her own hype and whenever I see how she interacts with JB or The Weeknd, I cringe a little. Tack on the 'I see colors' and her yelling @ fans and I'm just like... (Same with Melanie Martinez, who I willingly deleted Pity Party off of iTunes because of)

Her vocal isn't great, but again, it's pop. You don't have to be great if you're not selling yourself as great. She's selling herself as great and I think that's what kills any interest I could have in her music.

This so much. Halsey is awesome, Colors is the best song released this year by far. BADLANDS and Room 93 are masterpieces too
